In a unexpected partnership that challenges conventional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying transformations echo through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a hidden cult.

The adventure centers on "strange tests and a monstrous foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Content

Players who successfully complete the mission will acquire an exclusive katana together with multiple items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's third free story content, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
