Paul Barrow, 38, who plays on the wing for the opposition, came up against former Wigan defender Figueroa on the weekend - and had to explain his nine-year-old son who Emile Heskey was.

"The news was going round like a rumor they had all these former top-flight players," remarked Barrow.

"I felt I was a little awestruck playing against him to be honest.

"Our group literally have not ceased chatting about it - I was calling my mother and brother on the journey home.

"The opponents were all friendly, shaking our hands after the match - it was like facing a bunch of normal fellas.

"Now we are eager for the second fixture."

Andy Kirby manages the Collegiate vets team, who won the Top Tier title the previous campaign, along with Paul Maguire.

"We scored 1-0 up and had a
